²⁴When they heard it, they raised their voices to God with one accord and said, “Lord, maker of heaven and earth and the sea and of everything that is in them, ²⁵you said by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of our ancestor David, your servant,

‘Why do the Gentiles rage
    and the peoples devise futile plots?
²⁶The kings of the earth take their stand,
    and the rulers gather together
    against the Lord and against his Anointed.’
